Black Students Get Protected By Fellow Whites From Police Violence

A group of white students formed a human shield around fellow black students to prevent police from dispersing the protest using violence in Cape Town, South Africa.
A group of black demonstrators were protesting a rise in student fees near their Eastcape Midlands College when police officers started moving in. They reportedy used stun grenades and rubber bullets to disperse the crowd.
But before police could reach them, a group of white students from the neighbouring Rhodes University formed a human shield around them pushing police officers aside.
They say while some of them can afford higher university fees, they want to support the majority of black South African families with lower income and whose children would be excluded.

Students forced their way into the parliamentary complex in Cape Town

Proposed tuition fee hikes of between 10% and 12% have sparked protests at universities across the country. Students say the proposed fee hike amounts to discrimination in a country where the average income of black families is far less than that of white families.
