[HEALTH] Marijuana – not for hell but for health

Unknown to many people, marijuana can be used to improve human health, except when its usage is abused, it remains a good herb. There is no hell condition if properly used. Other names for marijuana are cannabis and Indian hemp. The word hemp has become synonymous with danger just because most users engage in its negative applications. As a herbal therapy marijuana had been used for centuries, even in ancient times predating the Christian era. It had been used in ancient Egypt where the Ebers Papyrus had a reference to it as a curative therapy. The use of cannabis was also common in ancient China about 10,000 years ago. Herodotus, the ancient Greek historian referred to how the herb was in steam baths. In ancient India cannabis had its use in certain religions as well as in healing and relaxation. All these lend credence to the historical importance of marijuana.

Hospital Wraps Newborns In Christmas Stockings

Newborns sleep in oversized red stockings in the nursery at Long Beach Memorial in Long Beach, Calif., on Monday. For more than 50 years, babies born between December 21-25 at Long Beach Memorial are placed in big red stockings to be presented to the new parents.
California hospitals are spreading holiday cheer for new parents by delivering newborns in giant Christmas stockings.
The bright red stockings were provided this week for babies born at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in Redlands, California. The Long Beach Press-Telegram says it’s a half-century-old tradition.
The Redlands Community Hospital has been handing out stockings to parents of infants born this month.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says the tradition began in 1930, but lapsed before it was revived in 2005.
This year, 16 volunteers made 250 fleece stockings during a daylong sewing bee.

Uganda recently signed a bill that further bans homosexuality. According to CNN, a man was burned to death for being gay shortly after.

The bill's original 2009 version, named "Kill The Gays," went as far as calling for the death penalty for certain homosexual acts; that provision was shelved following international furore.
Under its latest iteration, anyone who conducts marriage ceremonies for same-sex couples faces seven years behind bars. Failure to report homosexual activity to police is also criminalized. Doctors who treat gays, landlords who rent them property and those suspected of being gay are subject to five-year prison terms under the bill.
Anyone who offers support to homosexuals will also be committing a criminal offence, which can reportedly extend to counselling.
Though homosexuality has already been illegal in the South-east African nation, some argued this bill needed to be passed to safeguard against Western values.

She resides in Lagos, before now little or nothing was heard of Queen. But Queen decided to speak to a National Newspaper, not to ask Nigerians for help, but alert NGO’s to come to the aid of people with rare disabilities as hers. According to Queen, people look at her embarrassingly whenever she steps out. She said she lived a normal live until she was 21 when hair started growing all over her body. According to Queen who is now 26, she inherited this from her mother. Once you get to 21 to 23 years in my family, you start experiencing hair growth, she said. I want people to treat me like a normal human being and I will also love to appear in movies, Queen said. She also said she is in a relationship at the moment, and believes she will get married and have kids at the right time.

AK47 Rifle Inventor, Mikhail Kalashnikov Dies At 94

The inventor of the Kalashnikov assault rifle, Mikhail Kalashnikov died yesterday aged 94, Russian officials say. The automatic rifle he designed became one of the world’s most familiar and widely used weapons.
Although honoured by the state, Kalashnikov made little money from his gun. He once said he would have been better off designing a lawn mower. Kalashnikov was admitted to hospital with internal bleeding in November.
Kalashnikov refused to accept responsibility for the many people killed by his weapon, blaming the policies of other countries that acquired it.
However, pride in his invention was tempered with sadness at its use by criminals and child soldiers.

“It is painful for me to see when criminal elements of all kinds fire from my weapon,” Kalashnikov said in 2008. BBC

Presidency To Buy 11th Brand New Aircraft For N1.5bn

The Presidency has commenced plans to purchase a brand new aeroplane by making an initial deposit of N1, 520,000,000 for the aircraft. This will bring to 11 the number of aircraft in the presidential fleet.
According to the 2014 budget estimates submitted to the National Assembly last week for appropriation, several new items are to be purchased anew by the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF) under the supervision of the State House.
Other new items listed in the PAF budget are – the completion of hanger project (N405,500,000), tyre bay tools and equipment (N106,000,000), Towberless tow tractor for aircraft towing ( N58,740,000), hanger sweeper (N31,870,000), luggage conveyor belt truck (N28,898,000) and harlan tow tug for aircraft equipment towing (N27,590,000).

INCEST: "We Are Scarred for Life" - Children Raped By Own Fathers

Siblings Bola and Tolu (not real names) were sexually abused by their own father for two years. Seventeen-year-old Susan (not real name), who had two children for her father, also become a victim of incest.
Sexual abuse is one of the greatest crimes that could be committed against a child. The United Nations Convention on Rights of Child and Nigeria’s Child Rights Act give prominence to the protection of a child in the society as a result of this and specifically make case for the importance of the “primary care giver” which is the child’s immediate family.

‘My children’s father is their grandfather’
Susan was 17 years old in 2011 when her father, Egbuna, a pastor of a church in Igando, Lagos, who is in his 50s, sexually abused her. The Enugu State born father is currently awaiting judgment before the Family Court, Ikeja.

A 13-year-old girl has delivered triplets in the capital city of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo.
The father of babies is a 61-year-old man who is currently hiding from the police, as he would be charged with sexual abuse of a minor, if caught.
In the interview to the local press, the young mother showed no regrets in giving birth to three babies, despite circumstances. She added she was happy with her three sons, naming them Samuel, Joshua and Jovanny.
Three baby boys are currently in the intensive care ward of a local hospital, as the births were premature. However, all of them have good chances to survive.

Pastor Chris Okotie Buys N120m Rolls Royce To Mark Pastoral Anniversary

The Pastor of the Household of God Church International, Chris Okotie, recently bought a Rolls Royce Coupe, the 2014 Bespoke Edition, to mark his 30 years as born-again Christian and 27 years as a pastor.
According Okotie’s close aide, the pastor spent N120m on the luxury car and had earlier spent N33m on a Range Rover Autobiography to mark a milestone of his church.
The source, in a text message, said, “Pastor Okotie just bought a Rolls Royce Coupe, 2014 Bespoke Edition at N120m to mark his 30 years as a born-again Christian and 27 years as a pastor.
He had earlier bought a Range Rover (Autobiography) 2014 Model for N33m, reputed to be the costliest SUV in the world to mark this ministry’s milestone.”

Cola, 22 and Felix Glenny, 23, married yesterday in a ceremony at Medway Maritime Hospital in Kent. The couple, from Lower Stoke in Kent, have two young children – Ralph, 2, and Pearl, four months and found out last Friday that Felix only has weeks to live after he was diagnosed with bowel cancer and doctors found out his tumour has spread dramatically despite attempts to remove it. Family and friends looked on as Felix managed to make it out of bed and cut a cake on his big day. Cola who was happy she was getting married to the father of her children said, ‘It was perfect. It couldn’t have gone any better’. The family will spend Christmas together in hospital.

Amanda, 44, and Nathan Gibbs, 39, wedded yesterday after eight years together. They had lost a number of friends to cancer, so the couple decided to wed dressed as Shrek and Fiona and use the day to raise money for charity. Instead of wedding gifts, the couple asked their guests to donate money to Cancer Research.
Guests also came dressed up for the themed celebrations - dressing up as the Gingerbread Man, Mickey Mouse and Jack Sparrow from Pirates Of The Caribbean.
