Yobo Gets Champions League Lifeline

Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo may play in this season's UEFA Champions League after the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) ruled that Fenerbache will feature in the third round qualifying draw of the competition.
Fenerbache were handed a two-year ban from UEFA competitions after being accused of match-fixing, but the Super Lig club appealed the decision and have been handed a lifeline by the recent ruling.

Besiktas who were also banned after being accused of match-fixing were also granted reprieve by the CAS ruling, as the Istanbul giants who recently signed Nigeria's Michael Eneramo will be allowed to feature in the Europa League draws which will hold on 21 July.
A final verdict that will determine the fate of both clubs in their respective competitions will be reached on 28 August and 30 August for Fenerbache and Besiktas respectively.
"Due to agreements reached between the appellants and UEFA, the decisions challenged by Fenerbahce SK and Besiktas JK have been stayed and will not be enforced until the Court of Arbitration for Sport issues its final decision in each matter," a statement from the CAS reads.
"This means that Fenerbahce SK and Besiktas JK will take part in the draws of the first preliminary matches of the UEFA Champions League (Fenerbahce) and of the UEFA Europa League (Besiktas).
"In the meantime, the arbitration procedures are continuing following an expedited calendar agreed upon by the parties and it is anticipated that hearings will take place in August with a final decision being issued before 28 August 2013 (Fenerbahce) and 30 August 2013 (Besiktas)."
