Premier League - Paper Round: Fabregas 'prefers' United move

Cesc Fabregas "fancies" a move to Manchester United, Marouane Fellaini is also a target for the Premier League champions and Stevan Jovetic is nearing a deal with Manchester City - here are the main transfer stories from today's papers.

Fabregas to United? The biggest talking point of the day is covered in every paper, with The Sun probably taking the story the furthest, claiming that Fabregas is keen on moving to United - ifBarcelona agree to sell him. A source tells the paper that the Spain international "prefers" a move to Old Trafford over a return to Arsenal, who have first refusal on him if he ever leaves the Camp Nou. The Daily Telegraph says the Gunners are unlikely to stand in United's way though, as they have other targets, but a 'source' says in the Guardian that "the player is not transferable" anyway.
Paper Round's view: United's £26 million bid for Fabregas - which the papers claim will be rejected by Barca - came as a surprise, but the idea of the player leaving Barca is not hard to swallow. Competition in their midfield is intense, and Fabregas must surely crave regular first-team football ahead of next year's World Cup. Any deal happening appears to rest on Barcelona's shoulders.

Fellaini to join Fabregas at United? Amid all the talk about Fabregas, it is widely reported that David Moyes has also targeted his former Everton charge Marouanne Fellaini, as he bids to create a new heart of United's midfield for next season. Interestingly, the Telegraph reports that the Belgian is "a fall back option should an unknown target prove beyond United’s reach".
Paper Round's view: Two goalscoring midfielders in one team? Either Fabregas or Fellaini would have to curb their attacking instincts if Moyes is successful in bringing the pair on board. Which begs the question: do United need both? The 'fall-back option' line seems the most plausible line about the interest in Fellaini.
